game of throws: inside darts

IN THE YEAR THAT DARTS MANIA TOOK HOLD, this three-part series for Sky Documentaries goes inside the world of professional darts.

Though for most of us it’s a game played in the local pub with a pint in hand, for the pros the stakes couldn't be higher. Every Christmas at London’s Alexandra Palace, ninety-six players fight for £500,000 and the title of World Champion, with millions watching around the globe.

The series follows sixteen-year-old Luke Littler as he goes from unknown to worldwide phenomenon, along with darts legends Michael ‘Bully Boy’ Smith, ‘Cool Hand’ Luke Humphries, and ‘Mighty Mike’ Michael van Gerwen as they battle it out on the oche. Tracking the highs and lows of the players and their families, we follow their personal journeys as they compete to be World Number 1.

Spearheading the darts revolution is maverick PDC President Barry Hearn OBE, who takes us behind the scenes at his nail-biting tournament, where he is on a mission to get the world to fall in love with this beautiful game.
